Coca Cola is such a well known name in our society today and it blows my mind that this company started so many years ago and was able to battle through all their highs and lows to dominate the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century. The drink's name refers to two of its original ingredients, which were kola nuts (caffeine) and coca leaves. The current formula of Coca cola remains a trade secret, although a variety of reported recipes and experimental recreations have been published. Today we see hundreds of versions of coca cola as you can add any fruit to it and call it coca cola cherry or strawberry. Also they have no sugar versions and no calorie versions and no caffeine versions. There were a lot of versions of the coke and it inspired other brands like RC cola and others to get into the soft drink industry. Coke was known as a luxury item through the branding there were able to do. There were able to have bottling stations across the world and sell their recipe to it so that it would taste the same all over the world. This why it is recognized all around the world and why it has so much respect and clout from other companies. Based on Interbrand's "best global brand" study of 2015, Coke was the world's third most valuable brand, after Apple and Google. In 2013, Coke products were sold in over 200 countries worldwide, with consumers drinking more than 1.8 billion company beverage servings each day.
Also whats crazy about coca cola is that it was confirmed that they actually put cocaine in their bottles. they put about 9 milligrams of it as a normal line of cocaine at the club is 75 or above milligrams of cocaine. The traditional shape of the bottle is said to resemble the seed-pod of the coca bush, memorializing the cocaine recipe. Growing up for me I always thought it was some myth when I would drink it but its crazy to think that such a scary drug in the eyes of the government could be put in a soft drink and sold throughout the world for a little amount of time. No matter what has been said about Coca Cola and their company it is one of the most American and successful businesses/corporations in American history and will not go away anytime soon.

Interesting post Chrisitian, however I would like to point out that cocaine and marijuana was known to have medicinal properties. Cocaine for example is quite useful for anesthetic and since cocaine wasnt pulled until 1960. It was invented in 1886 so that would mean cocaine was considered a healthy drug for nearly 74 years before people had started to discover they were narcotics.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this can be verified but I was talking to my friends about this one day and Coca Cola has so much sugar in it they mask it with other chemicals so our brain can;t register the correct amount of sweetness. Or something along those lines. I know there are in fact 39grams of sugar without including caffeine...The video shows the real amount of sugar you are consuming.
