Motown

After the Brown v. Board of Education in 1954, many people were still obsessed with superiority, not to mention that many of their grand/parents had grow up with a mindset that all colored people were below them. And since many people were not used to colored people having equal liberty for all aspects, listening to colored people playing on the radio was probably the last straw. After many folks had turned their radio off or to another channel whenever jazz or blues had started and that would cause many radio stations to ban colored musicians from playing in their radio station at all. However that all changed when Motown had started to integrate the hated music on their radio station.

Motown, originally called motor and town, was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. and has been one of the most historic racially integrated radio station. Since many Caucasian citizens would ignore the colored citizens, it would be easy for many others to not even notice them. However when Motown had started to play diverse music they had found that instead of going to immediate bankruptcy, they had a market filled with colored people listen to Motown´s radio station only since it was the only one that had diverse genres. And since many Caucasian children would be around African American children, they would start to develop a sense of integration causing both races to be connected through music.

Although Motown might not be as popular as WHTZ-FM or KIIS-FM, it had the important role of integrating race and different genre of music to the world. Not to mention that some artists Motown had produced are Bruno Mars, Micheal Jackson, Lionel Richie, and Jackson 5 to name a few.
